This painting is about generations of ancestors who haven't been wept for properly. How the act of grief is an act of praise. Our tears are food for the souls of our loved ones who passed. Grief can also exist for old parts of ourselves. So many times we have stuffed our grief down generationally to survive, deeply creating fragmentation. This painting is an invitation to invite your grief to flow. The tears feed the blooming lotus where the heart broke open and trickle down to feed the roots, thus ascending one's energy and connection to higher frequencies.
Inspired after listening to Martín Prechtel's "Grief & Praise" 3 part talk on YouTube. After this talk I had an awakening of the importance of my birth last name and took back my name, restoring wholeness in my existence. This painting is my reflection of being the first generation of active grieving and healing for my ancestors.
